| Union Station Want a unique shopping experience? This unique St. Louis downtown attraction was built in the 1890's at a cost of 6.5 million by German-born architect Theodore C. Link of St. Louis. The ornate interior includes a 65 foot vaulted ceiling grand hall, the Midway (which served more than 100,000 rail passengers in its day) and a 610-foot-long and 70-foot-wide concourse. There are many unique shops and restaurants to choose from that cater to adults and children both. A favorite thing to do for kids is the paddle boats located outside under the atrium.
